Carbon savings

A typical new build two person home requires 80,000 kgCO2 to build. The chart shows how the renew town approach would save between 45,000 and 60,000 kgCO2 of carbon if built this year through re-use of existing structure, recycling of materials from nearby buildings and using low carbon products where new materials are required. The chart shows the carbon in the building components and tracks the savings.

Housing crisis response

This chart shows a low carbon response to delivering the 4.3m homes it is suggested are required in the brief. Our solution could deliver up to 45,000 low cost low carbon homes. It shows how the remaining number of homes could be met prioritising the lowest carbon option. Our analysis method could be extended to find sites above similar commercial buildings which councils/ CLTs could obtain the freehold of.
